I feel like every single trend from the 1970’s was floaty and beautiful and feminine and boho and whenever they come back I am just in love with them, even if I’m not exactly sure what to do with it.
And this week it is Fringing!
In theory Fringing is so floaty and festivally versatile (hell you can put it on a top, skirt, bag even some dang earrings!) but in practice, hmmm, I don’t know, can border on Pocahontas (not always a bad thing) or just completely impractical.
And these girls are killing it.

Advice and Tips to Nail to Trend
- Don’t spend too much! While fun and flirty right now, and a trend that tends to appear over and over every few years, it is just a trend. Don’t spend a weeks rent on a high quality piece that you will only wear for the next 3 months.
- Wear the Trend, Don’t let the Trend wear you. Fringing can be overwhelming and swallow up your whole outfit and you with it if you let it get out of control or try to wear something that just doesn’t suit your body or your aesthetic. You’ve got options, 20’s glam fringing or 70’s boho or leather fringing for a modern tougher look the options are endless.
- Less is More – Outside of a desert festival fringing overload can look confusing and a little bit cowboy-ish and let’s be real a little bit tragic. There are so many options. Shoes, Scarves, Wraps, Jacket, Shirts, Skirts, Accessories, Bags… you get the point. Pick one at a time.
